This journey of nine days and eight nights has been created to visit the unmissable region of Cusco and its most significant places or highlights.
Cusco, a region with the most beautiful landscapes on the planet, crowned by six mountains more than 6,000 meters above sea level, is the oldest city in the western hemisphere and the cradle of the Inca civilization.
You will be able to visit the beautiful archaeological sites surrounding the city of Cusco named as 4 Ruinas. In addition, you will have the opportunity to visit the complex of Pisac and its colorful traditional market, stop at the fortress of Ollantaytambo, visit the salt mines of Maras and the ancestral laboratory of Moray.
We will stop at the southern part of the city and its beautiful sites. Of course, we could not miss the expedition for the discovery of the majestic citadel of Machupicchu, still shrouded in wonder and mystery.
Besides, if you are interested in a little hiking, then this program is for you, since we will take you to visit the famous Rainbow Mountain, known for its beautiful red colors and then the spectacular lake Humantay with a breathtaking and imposing view of the Salkantay glaciar.

During the morning, we will transfer you to the airport for your domestic flight to Cusco.
Upon arrival, our staff will be there to greet, meet and transfer you to your hotel located at the heart of the Incas capital. Time to rest and adjust to the altitude.
In the early afternoon, we will start our experience walking the Plaza de Armas, the center of the Incas capital. We will start visiting the Cathedral, an impressive building that has many paintings from the Escuela Cusqueña (School of Cusco) as well as real goldsmith treasures. We will continue our discovery in Santo Domingo and Koricancha Monastery, ancient temple of the Sun.
Then we will head towards the most important archaeological sites surrounding the city of Cusco. We will start with Tambomachay, and then descend on foot to PucaPucara, Kenko and Sacsayhuaman. This last one is a fortress, and it was built on a hill, which dominates the city of Cusco. It is characterized by its gigantic blocks of stones nested to the nearest millimeter, some of which exceed 9 meters (29.5 ft.) in height and weigh more than 550 tons.

After breakfast, we will start our journey going to the Sacred Valley of the Incas (30 km // 18 miles away from Cusco) with a beautiful landscape bordering the Urubamba river. We will stop in different spots to take pictures and arrive to the archaeological complex of Pisac. It is made up of terraces, fountains, observatories and even a necropolis, the largest in the region. It was from there that the Incas controlled and dominated the Sacred Valley.
At our descent, we will be able to visit the town’s famous craft market.
We will continue until we reach the town of Urubamba, the place for our lunch and then follow the river until reach the village of Ollantaytambo and visit the imposing archaeological fortress. Finally, we will walk towards the train station located in the same village and take the train to Aguas Calientes, a small village located at the foot of the famous Machupicchu.

* In order to guarantee a safe and punctual service, the national train company Perurail asks passengers going to Machupicchu to take only a small backpack of 5kg and 157cm (height + width + length) maximum or a bag cabin type. Please note that the company has become very strict regarding these restrictions. Suitcases and large travel bags will not be accepted on the train.
You will leave your luggage and personal belongings for the day, leaving them at the hotel in Cusco before the excursion. After the excursion of Machupicchu, you will return to the Hotel in Cusco.

Early in the morning, we will take the shared bus to go up to the most famous Inca site in the country: Machupicchu, “old summit” in Quechua’s language.
During your guided tour (around 2h), you will discover, still enveloped in the morning mist, this architectural complex built on a narrow ridge bordered by precipices. An impressive vision that evolves with the progression of the sun.
We will then walk through the alleys of the citadel, its quarters, its squares, its royal houses, its agricultural areas, its paths and its observatories.
After the guided tour, we descend in the afternoon to Aguas Calientes to take the train to Poroy. (The closest train stop to the city of Cusco)

Possibility of adding the ascent of the Huaynapicchu Mountain or Montaña Machupicchu depending on availability. (These mountains are part of the landscape of the citadel of Machupicchu and have different times and entrances, since they take more time to climb and visit).

In the morning after breakfast, we will start the tour to the South Valley of Cusco.
Our first stop is Tipón, an amazing archaeological site known for its terraces and its preserved irrigation system used for agriculture in Incas time.
Then we will go to Pikillaqta (The town of the fleas in Quechuas language). This vast complex belongs to another culture way before the Incas, the Wari culture. It includes more than 800 buildings with various functions, in which it is estimated that more than ten thousand people lived.
Finally, we will go to Andahuaylillas to visit the town and its Catholic temple from the colonial era. This place is known as the Sistine Chapel of America, due to a beautiful decoration and mural painting from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Return to Cusco and overnight in the city.

Very early in the morning, our transportation will pick us up from the hotel and drive towards Vinincunca or the so-called Raimbow Mountain, known for its beautiful red colors.
After approximately 2 hours, the ride will stop for breakfast in the town of Cusipata – Paucarpata and continue to the final destination. We will follow the route for another 1 hour until we reach the starting point of the hike.
The ascent to the overlook is around 2h; meanwhile we will see a large number of llamas and alpacas that are at the mercy of shepherds dressed in beautiful colorful costumes typical of the place. We will pass through beautiful ravines heading to the highest parts, surrounded by snow-capped mountains (Ausangate).
Arriving at this point, our guide will explain about the orography, ecosystem and color of the mountain, while we are able to witness wonderful views, take pictures and breathe the purest air of all.
The descend will be through the red valley, where you will able to see one last time the Vinincunca mountain and start the road back to Cusco, with a stop for lunch.

The experience will begin on the way to the Sacred Valley and the stop at the town of Chinchero, “city of the rainbow”, known for its textile art according to the traditional Inca method.
Then, will continue to the archaeological site of Moray, that according to historians, the place has constructions that were part of an agricultural investigation in the Incas Empire.
Next on the schedule is the overlook of Las Salineras de Maras, where you will be able to see hundreds of artisanal ponds exploited since pre-Columbian times. The water comes from a salt source. Once evaporated, a thin layer of salt settles there to be immediately harvested.
Return to Cusco and overnight in the city.

Very early in the morning the transportation will pick us up from the hotel and drive towards the Humantay Lake, known for its clear water and imposing views of the near snow-capped mountains.
After approximately 2 hours, the ride will stop for breakfast in the town of Mollepata and then continue to the final destination. We will be able to enjoy the landscapes and ravines for another hour until we reach the town of Soraypampa, the starting point of the hike.
The ascent to the lake is around 2h and we will be able to witness the clear water of the lake and the impressive views of the mountain on top. There will be time to enjoy the wonderful views, take pictures and breathe the purest air of all.
In this place, we will participate in a demonstration of the use of the coca leaf and a small offering to our Apus (Mountain Gods) that allowed us to arrive.
The descent to Soraypampa will take around 1h30, and we will take the car back to Cusco, with a stop in Mollepata for lunch.
