In the morning, we will start our journey with the visit of the colonial and modern part of the Capital. It is here where colonial palaces, monasteries and convents exist in amazing harmony with modern buildings and the most impressive and ancient Pre-Inca huacas. We will head towards the Larco Herrera Museum, with a palpable explanation of Peru’s history before the Incas culture. The museum is filled with a valuable collection made up of more than 10,000 pieces of Mochica, Chimú and other Pre-Inca civilizations. For those interested in the most intimate customs of this ancient culture, the Museum’s collection of erotic ceramics is a faithful and unique representation of its kind. On the way we will see Miraflores and San Isidro, two of the most beautiful and exclusive neighborhoods in the capital. Return to your Hotel.
During the morning, a transportation will take us to the bus station to take a line bus towards Huaraz. Upon arrival, our staff will be there to greet, meet and transfer you to your hotel. Overnight in Huaraz.
After breakfast, we leave the hotel towards the Santa Valley; our destination today is the Huascarán National Reserve. At our arrival we will visit the Llanganuco Lake, a breathtaking mass of water known for its turquoise waters, located at the foot of the Peruvian snow giant “APU HIRCA” or Huascarán (6768 m // 22,204 ft. ). Then, we will perform a welcoming ceremony and board a boat to enjoy the landscapes and purity of the place. Return to Huaraz, with a stop of the city of Yungay. Overnight at Huaraz.
Early in the morning, we will leave towards the town of Chavín de Huantar, located 170 km away from the city of Huaraz. On the way, we will be able to enjoy the extraordinary views of the landscapes and the flora and fauna of the area. Upon arrival, we will rest on a little restaurant and have lunch, to continue on direction of the local house that we are staying for the evening. Rest of the day free to explore the town of Chavín de Huantar. On the city, we will have the option to bath on the thermal baths of Chavín de Huantar, or experience a very spiritual ceremony called Wachuma ceremony or San Pedro Ceremony. Overnight in Chavin de Huantar.
The Wachuma ceremony or San Pedro ceremony is a ritual that is carried out by a shaman (Andean priest). Previously, the shaman prepares the brew that contains the San Pedro plant, very well known in the Andes for the natural hallucinogens that contains. The main objective of this ceremony is to seek the mental, emotional and physical balance of the participant. Clear the fears and traumas that the person experiences during their lives, the same that lead to psychological and physical alterations. Then, the person enters a state of meditation and connection, a process during which he/she is forced to face his/her deepest fears and traumas with the intention of finding a resolution for them.
After breakfast, we will go on direction of the beautiful archaeological complex of Chavín de Huantar. Upon arrival, we will do a mystical visit of the site, the most important in the department of Áncash, in central Peru. This great architectural work was built by the Chavín culture over more than 2200 years. In the afternoon, we return to the city of Huaraz and overnight.
