This wonderful itinerary will combine the impressive places located in the northern part of Peru. Arriving to the capital: Lima, the journey will continue to Trujillo, one of the most emblematic cities of the north, with beautiful places located in the desert and the sea.
The experience continues to the city of Chiclayo and then in a very subtle way, you will enter the northern jungle of Peru, with the visit of Chachapoyas, its highlights, natural attractions, cultural and vivential experiences.
Before returning to the capital, the experience will end with the visit of Tarapoto, characterized by the Amazonian cloud forest and its abundant palm trees.
Upon arrival at Lima’s airport, an assistant will be meeting and helping you in a connection flight to the city of Trujillo.
Arrival to Trujillo and transfer to your Hotel for the night.
Overnight in Trujillo.
In the morning, we will visit the city, highlighting its colonial richness with its baroque style houses, as well as republican art with its neoclassical mansions.
There will be time for lunch (not included on package) and in the afternoon, we will visit El Brujo and La Señora de Cao, where we will see the tomb of what is believed to have been a powerful ruler or priestess in a Pre-Columbian culture called Moche, about 1700 years ago.
Then, we will continue to the Cao Museum, dedicated to offer a global vision of the entire cultural process of the El brujo archaeological complex.
Return to the Hotel and overnight in Trujillo.
In the morning, we leave our hotel heading to one of the most wonderful restorations sites made by Backus Company: La Huaca de la Luna. It is where we can witness the history of the Moche culture; they were main 5 epochs shown on the construction signed by their makers with millions of adobe sand bricks. Then we visit La Huaca del Sol, which is in process of restauration.
In the afternoon we will go to one of the most amazing sites of Trujillo named “Chan Chan”, whose name means “Sun-Sun”, they are recognized as the most extensive pre-Columbian “adobe” (bricks made of sand or dirt) citadel in the world, and used them to build Plazas, ceremonial centers , gathering places , water aqueducts and more.
After the visit of the immense archaeological site, we will drive a few miles away to visit Huanchaco, a very famous beach known for the “caballitos de totora”, that are still used by fishermen
This day we will head towards the city of Chiclayo. A transportation will be waiting at an accorded time to take us to the bus station in Trujillo.
At your arrival to Chiclayo, a car will be waiting to take you to your hotel for the night.
Overnight in Chiclayo.
After breakfast, we will depart towards the Lambayeque village and continue to the great site of Tucume. We will walk and explore the local restoration and museum. Thor Heyerdahl, a Norwegian adventurer and ethnographer, conducted excavations between 1988 and 1992. There is an optional sidewalk to the Golgota Mountain to overlook the site. After the visit, we will head towards the extraordinary modern museum of El Señor de Sipan, which houses real art jewels in gold, silver and copper discovered in several Mochica tombs. All the remains and treasures were found in the archaeological zone of Huaca Rajada. The tomb of El Señor de Sipan is one of the most important in the world, compared to Tutankhamun in Egypt.
Return to the hotel for overnight in Chiclayo
In the morning, we will head out of the city to the Pomac Forest, a protected area where we can see local flora and fauna and walk to the ancient tree.
Then, we visit the Sicán Archaeological Complex where we will observe 20 pyramids made of adobe (sand brick).
We will climb the Las Salinas Viewpoint to appreciate the forest and the rivers majesty.
We will end our excursion visiting the National Museum of Sicán, which presents a permanent display of all aspects of Sicán society and its culture.
Return to Chiclayo, rest and in the evening we depart by bus towards Chachapoyas. Night at the NIGHT bus line towards Chachapoyas.
Arrival to Chachapoyas and transfer to your Hotel, where you will have the breakfast included.
After some rest, at the accorded time we will depart to another astonishing place in Peru: Kuelap. An imposing stone building built by the Chachapoyas people and protected by a wall of up to 20 meters, which, until recently, was only accessed by walking (2h30).
Today, it can be reached in 20 minutes thanks to modern cable cars that depart from Nuevo Tingo.
After the exploration, we take our transportation back to Chachapoyas and overnight.
After breakfast, we will pick you up at the time accorded to drive towards the town Cocachimba (1h), and start a walk to another highlight of the journey: The Gocta Waterfalls.
The biggest waterfall is 771 meters high (around 2530 feet), a number that places it at number 15 on the world list of highest waterfalls in the world.
During the entire experience (4h roundtrip), we will be surrounded by nature, the beauty of landscapes, variety of flora and fauna (orquids, birds, butterflies, etc.).
Return to Chachapoyas and overnight at the Hotel.
After breakfast, we will depart towards the town of Cruzpata, from where we will start to walk for about 30 min to visit the anthropomorphic Sarcofagos de Karajia (Sarcophagi of Karajia).
These peculiar statues are located on cliffs, inaccessible to any human being. It is said that in these alleged cases are the mummified bodies of the most import rulers of the Chachapoyas culture.
Transfer to the town of Lamud and have time for lunch (not included on package).
We will end our day with the visit of Quiocta caverns, where we can observe thousands of stalactites and stalagmites.
Return to Chachapoyas and overnight at the Hotel.
This day we will head towards the city of Tarapoto. A transportation will be waiting at an accorded time and take us to the bus station.
At our arrival in Tarapoto, a transportation will be waiting to take us to your hotel for the night.
Afternoon free to rest and explore the city. Overnight in Tarapoto.
A relaxed day will start to go on the excursion of La Laguna Azul (Blue Lagoon).
On our way, we will cross the Huallaga River, part of the upper basin of the Amazon River. It has a length of 1138 km or 707 miles.
Arrival to the Laguna Azul and we start walking its shores contemplating the abundant vegetation of the area.
Afterwards, we will enjoy a one-hour boat ride through it, enjoying the calm environment while we navigating its waters.
We will have lunch and plenty of time to rest, get inside the water, lie down in a hammock, listen to the birds, and more.
In the afternoon, we return to our Hotel in Tarapoto.
Our last day of visits starts after breakfast, picking you up to start the excursion to the Ahuashiyacu Waterfall.
On our way, we will stop at the Ahuashiyacu viewpoint where we can appreciate the mountainous and green views of the “Escalera” mountain range.
We will continue the road until we arrive to the reserve where our waterfall is. We will start a walk for about 15 min inside the jungle to arrive to the beautiful hidden Ahuashiyacu waterfall.
We will have the option to bathe on it and take beautiful pictures.
Return to Tarapoto, free afternoon and overnight at the Hotel.
Transfer to the airport of Tarapoto for a national flight with destination Lima. This flight can correspond with your international one.
