From the middle coast to one of the seven wonders of the World: Machupicchu, this trip combines the essential places to be an expert in Peru.
The start is by the coast with the arrival at the capital of Peru: Lima, the visit of the Ballestas Islands, the Huacachina oasis, and of course without forgetting Nazca and its mysterious lines.
The next stage continues by visiting the mythical city of Arequipa and the Colca Canyon, before venturing out to Lake Titicaca in Puno. We will provide you the unique experience to spend a night with the inhabitants of Amantaní and therefore have the opportunity to discuss their culture and traditions.
At the end but not least, the journey will end with the unmissable region of Cusco and the most remarkable places of the Inca’s culture. Among these, you will discover the majestic citadel of Machupicchu, still shrouded in wonder and mystery.

After breakfast, we will start our journey with the visit of the colonial and modern part of the Capital. It is here where colonial palaces, monasteries and convents exist in amazing harmony with modern buildings and the most impressive and ancient Pre-Inca huacas.
The visit to Colonial Lima includes a dazzling walk through the Plaza de Armas, its Cathedral, the Government Palace and the Torre Tagle Palace. We will also walk through Miraflores and San Isidro, two of the most beautiful and exclusive neighborhoods in the capital.
Finally, we will continue with the visit of the Larco Herrera Museum, with a palpable explanation of Peru’s history before the Incas culture. The museum is filled with a valuable collection made up of more than 10,000 pieces of Mochica, Chimú and other Pre-Inca civilizations. For those interested in the most intimate customs of this ancient culture, the Museum’s collection of erotic ceramics is a faithful and unique representation of its kind.

Early in the morning, transfer to the bus station to take a scheduled bus from Lima to Paracas through a highway which runs along the Pacific coast.
Arrival to Paracas and transfer to “El Chaco” port to take a boat to the Ballestas Islands. During this excursion we will discover the richness of the local marine fauna: elephant seals, pelicans, penguins and other sea birds taking advantage of the cold Humboldt current extremely rich in plankton, and therefore in fish!
After the experience, we will have time for lunch (not included in package) and then be transfered the city of Ica, south of Paracas.
Arriving to Ica, we will visit the famous Huacachina Oasis and enjoy the view in the middle of the desert. In addition, there will be other activities to do as sandboarding and buggy cars (at an additional cost).

On our fourth day, we will depart towards Nazca. Along the way, you will begin to glimpse the mysterious Nazca Lines.
We will drive to the Chauchilla necropolis, a Pre-Columbian necropolis, the only place in Peru where we can discover thousand-year-old tombs populated with mummies that have allowed us to reconstruct the history, environment, daily life, uses and customs of this civilization swallowed by the sands of the Peruvian desert.

American scientist Paul Kosok discovered the Nazca Lines in 1939 when he flew over the area in search of irrigation canals. They appear as a dense network of zoomorphic and geometric figures up to 300 m long (984 ft.), and 10km straight lines, visible only from the sky.
In the afternoon, a transfer will be made to the bus terminal to take the line bus to the city of Arequipa. Upon arrival at night, a transportation will be waiting to transfer you from the bus terminal to your Hotel in Arequipa.

In the morning, discover the so-called white city and its colonial center by walking: the Plaza de Armas, the Santuarios Andinos museum and the Santa Catalina’s Convent. A true city with its alleys lined with colorful houses.
You will then go to the Yanahuara and Cayma overlooks, which offer panoramic views of the fabulous surrounding volcanoes.
Return to the hotel and free afternoon. Overnight in Arequipa.

Early in the morning, we will depart for the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world.
Along the way, we will pass at the slope of the Chachani, and cross part of the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, populated by wild vicuñas. The road gradually climbs to reach its highest point: El mirador de los volcanes at 4900 m or 16,076ft. From there, the view of the Ampato (6400m//20,997ft), the Sabancaya (5976m//19,606ft), and the HuallcaHuallca (6025m//19,767ft) is breathtaking.
There will be a descend towards Chivay, where you can have lunch (not included in package) and will be our place for overnight.
In the afternoon, we will ascend to Canacota and then descend to the hot springs of La Calera.

After breakfast, departure for “la Cruz Del Cóndor” (Condors cross), a viewpoint that offers a magnificent view of the Colca Canyon from the first rays of the sun. This is where we can admire the flight of the condor, the largest bird in the world.
We will then set off on foot towards the “Salto del Cura” (Priest’s Jump). The path offers splendid perspectives on the canyon (1h30 of walk).
On the way back to Chivay, we will discover the villages of Yanque, Coporaque, Achoma and Maca, where the way of life of the inhabitants has changed little since
Inca’s times. Lunch in Chivay (not included in package).
Early in the afternoon, we will take a tourist bus towards Puno and arrive in the evening.

In the morning, transfer to the port of Puno and start our visit of the famous Lake Titicaca (“stone puma” in the Aymara language).
First in our schedule is to visit the floating islands of Uros, where Aymara inhabitants build their homes on gigantic reed boats (totoras).
Our navigation on Lake Titicaca will continue to Taquile Islan, where its inhabitants live in a traditional way, here about 300 people work one day for themselves and the next for the community. Taquile’s life is self-sustaining and has lived maintaining for centuries the Inca principles of “do not steal, do not lie, and do not be lazy”.
Andean lunch at the island (not included on package) and return to Puno by the same boat.

For the excursion on Lake Titicaca, bring a backpack of maximum 10 kilograms so as not to overload the boat. The rest of your belongings will be left in storage at the hotel in Puno.

Early departure by bus towards Cusco. We will cross the Collao plateau where you will stop at the village of Pukará. It is one of the last places to testify to the pre-Inca’s culture of the same name.
We will then pass La Raya (4360m // 14,304ft), symbolizing the end of the Altiplano (plateau) and the beginning of the Cusco region.
It is in Sicuani where we will stop for an Andean lunch before resuming the road towards Raqchi. We will visit the spectacular Incas sanctuary, built by the Inca Pachacutec in honor of the Inca god Wiracocha.
Then, we will continue on to the village of Andahuaylillas and San Pedro’s Church, known as the “Sistine Chapel of South America” for its richly decorated ceiling.

In the early afternoon, we will start our experience walking the Plaza de Armas, the center of the Incas capital. We will start visiting the Cathedral, an impressive building that has many paintings from the Escuela Cusqueña (School of Cusco) as well as real goldsmith treasures. We will continue our discovery in Santo Domingo and Koricancha Monastery, ancient temple of the Sun.
Then we will head towards the most important archaeological sites surrounding the city of Cusco. We will start with Tambomachay, and then descend on foot to PucaPucara, Kenko and Sacsayhuaman. This last one is a fortress, and it was built on a hill, which dominates the city of Cusco. It is characterized by its gigantic blocks of stones nested to the nearest millimeter, some of which exceed 9 meters (29.5 ft.) in height and weigh more than 550 tons.

Very early in the morning, our transportation will pick us up from the hotel and drive towards Vinincunca or the so-called Raimbow Mountain, known for its beautiful red colors.
After approximately 2 hours, the ride will stop for breakfast in the town of Cusipata – Paucarpata and continue to the final destination. We will follow the route for another 1 hour until we reach the starting point of the hike.
The ascent to the overlook is around 2h; meanwhile we will see a large number of llamas and alpacas that are at the mercy of shepherds dressed in beautiful colorful costumes typical of the place. We will pass through beautiful ravines heading to the highest parts, surrounded by snow-capped mountains (Ausangate).
Arriving at this point, our guide will explain about the orography, ecosystem and color of the mountain, while we are able to witness wonderful views, take pictures and breathe the purest air of all.
The descend will be through the red valley, where you will able to see one last time the Vinincunca mountain and start the road back to Cusco, with a stop for lunch.

Remember that travelers who make the trip to Rainbow Mountain must be in a good physical condition and adapted to the high altitude.
After breakfast, we will start our journey going to the Sacred Valley of the Incas (30 km // 18 miles away from Cusco) with a beautiful landscape bordering the Urubamba river. We will stop in different spots to take pictures and arrive to the archaeological complex of Pisac. It is made up of terraces, fountains, observatories and even a necropolis, the largest in the region. It was from there that the Incas controlled and dominated the Sacred Valley.
At our descent, we will be able to visit the town’s famous craft market.
We will continue until we reach the town of Urubamba, the place for our lunch and then follow the river until reach the village of Ollantaytambo and visit the imposing archaeological fortress. Finally, we will walk towards the train station located in the same village and take the train to Aguas Calientes, a small village located at the foot of the famous Machupicchu.

* In order to guarantee a safe and punctual service, the national train company Perurail asks passengers going to Machupicchu to take only a small backpack of 5kg and 157cm (height + width + length) maximum or a bag cabin type. Please note that the company has become very strict regarding these restrictions. Suitcases and large travel bags will not be accepted on the train.
You will leave your luggage and personal belongings for the day, leaving them at the hotel in Cusco before the excursion. After the excursion of Machupicchu, you will return to the Hotel in Cusco.
Early in the morning, we will take the shared bus to go up to the most famous Inca site in the country: Machupicchu, “old summit” in Quechua’s language.
During your guided tour (around 2h), you will discover, still enveloped in the morning mist, this architectural complex built on a narrow ridge bordered by precipices. An impressive vision that evolves with the progression of the sun.
We will then walk through the alleys of the citadel, its quarters, its squares, its royal houses, its agricultural areas, its paths and its observatories.
After the guided tour, we descend in the afternoon to Aguas Calientes to take the train to Poroy. (The closest train stop to the city of Cusco)
