The excursion will begin at the Inca citadel of Pisac, which includes terraces, fountains, observatories, and the largest Inca cemetery in the region. This was a control point and domain of the Incas in the Sacred Valley.
After the guided tour, we will descend to the town and head to the traditional Pisac market, where we will have the opportunity to discover local customs, cuisine, and crafts for sale. Then, we will proceed to Urubamba, the heart of the Sacred Valley, for a delicious lunch.
Subsequently, we will head to the Ollantaytambo fortress, situated on the hill overlooking the town. Notable buildings include the Temple of the Sun and its gigantic monoliths: the Mañaracay or Royal Hall, the Incahuatana, and the Princess Baths. At the top, there is a fortress with a series of carved stone terraces built to control and monitor the entrance to this part of the valley and prevent possible invasions from the jungle tribes.
Finally, we will head to the train station for departure to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu village). Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.
