Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, also known as Qosqo in Quechua, carries a profound meaning: center, navel, or belt. This name is not coincidental as it reflects the Inca worldview, which believed that the city was the point of connection between the underworld - Uku Pacha -, the visible world - Kay Pacha -, and the upper world - Hanan Pacha. Thus, it was considered the navel of the world, symbolizing the interconnectedness of the different planes of existence. This concept attests to the deep religious and philosophical thought of the Incas, which influenced every aspect of their life and culture.
