Where palaces, monasteries and colonial convents exist in amazing harmony with modern buildings and the most impressive and millenary pre-Inca huacas. Upon arrival at the Lima airport, a host will greet you and assist you with your transfer and hotel check-in.
In the morning you will fly to Arequipa and upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon we will visit the emblematic places of the city and surroundings. Our visit begins with the viewpoint of "Carmen Alto" in this place we will observe the three tutelary volcanoes that surround the city of Arequipa. Then the district of Yanahuara to appreciate the portals built in ashlar. Later the monastery of Santa Catalina that presents a citadel, founded in the year 1579, likewise we will take a walk through the Plaza de Armas and we can observe the facade of the minor basilica of Arequipa, with a neoclassical style and the church of the company of Jesus. After breakfast, around 7:30 am, our mobility will pass by your hotel to start our trip to one of the deepest canyons in the world, taking the road to Yura, bordering the snowy Chachani towards Pampa Cañahuas (National Reserve of Aguada Blanca and Salinas) habitat of the beautiful South American camelids, the vicuñas; likewise we can appreciate a variety of migratory birds, among which are the flamingos. We will stop at the viewpoint of the volcanoes, which is also the highest area of the road (4,950 m.a.s.l.) from where we can appreciate a great part of the western mountain range, this place has a magnificent panorama of huge snow-capped volcanoes like the ampato (6,400m) and huallca huallca (6,025m). Then we will be arriving to Chivay and then to your hotel. Later in option you can go to the hot springs (37 °c) of "la calera" (optional, with cost).
This will be a magnificent day, since early in the morning you will go to the viewpoint of the condor's cross, where you can usually see flying the largest birds in the world, the condors that with their majestic flight will give you a fantastic and unforgettable spectacle. It will also offer a magnificent view of the canyon that looks spectacular in the morning hours. On the way back we will pass through villages such as Yanque, Coporaque and Achomas, villages that still maintain their traditions such as their typical costumes, customs and you will see that nothing has changed since the time of the Incas. Then we will stop in the town of Maca, where we will visit its beautiful church and its stone streets among other attractions, and then return to Chivay where we will have time for lunch. Then we continue our journey to Puno and to your hotel.
This day we will visit Lake Titicaca and its islands by boat. The excursion begins with the floating islands of the Uros, famous for their unique way of life. In this Aymara village, the inhabitants build their houses on large totora reed rafts. Next, the island of Taquile, 45 minutes of walking, to reach the main square, where the inhabitants live in a traditional way, a kind of communism in which the property is private but the work is collective; about 300 people work in the community, one day for themselves and others for the community. Taquile's self-sufficient life is lived according to the Inca principles of "don't steal, don't lie and don't be idle", customs that have been maintained for centuries. We will enjoy a typical lunch on the island, then head to the port where our boat will be waiting to take us back to Puno.
This day in the morning we head towards the city of Cusco. The route crosses the Collao plateau where we will stop in the town of Pucara (70 km), famous for its craftsmanship of the popular "toritos de Pucara". Later we will stop at the border of Puno - Cusco and spot South American camelids. Continuing with the trip we will arrive at the archaeological center of Raqchi, a sanctuary built by the Inca Pachacutec in honor of the God Wiracocha. Moreover, the structure has two circular lateral columns, around the temple there are several buildings that were once houses and warehouses. Then we arrive to the town of Andahuaylillas, where we will visit the church of San Pedro better known as the "Sistine Chapel of America", characterized by its richness and artistic beauty. Finally, transfer to the hotel.
Free morning. In the afternoon, we will visit the ancient capital of the Inca Empire and current archaeological capital of America. The visit begins with the Cathedral of Cusco, which is decorated inside with numerous gold leaf altarpieces and paintings of the Cusco school, followed by the Temple of the Sun, better known as Q'oricancha. We then visit the Inca archaeological sites, such as the complexes of Tambomachay, Puca Pucara, Q'enqo and the impressive site of Sacsayhuaman; strategically built on a hill overlooking the city of Cusco. Its enormous stone walls have been cut and assembled with amazing precision. Some of these stones are over 9 feet high and weigh over 100 tons.
This day we will begin to explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas, on the banks of the Vilcanota River. The excursion begins with the Inca citadel of Pisaq, composed of terraces, fountains, observatories and a cemetery, the largest in the region, this was a point of control and dominion of the Incas in the Sacred Valley. After the guided tour we will go down to the village and we will go to the traditional market of Pisaq, there we will have the opportunity to discover the customs of the people and also to bargain with the sellers their handicrafts; then we will continue to the heart of the Sacred Valley of Urubamba, where we will have lunch and then we will go to the fortress of Ollantaytambo, located on the hill that dominates the town, buildings such as the Temple of the Sun and its gigantic monoliths stand out: the Mañaracay or Royal Hall, the Incahuatana and the Princess Baths. In the upper part stands a fortress, with a series of carved stone terraces, built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasions of the people of the jungle. After the visit we will go to the train station to leave for Aguas Calientes, upon arrival transfer to your hotel.
This day after breakfast we head towards the bus station and depart to Machupicchu and see how spectacular is the citadel of Machu Picchu, "old peak", considered a jewel of Inca architecture: with neighborhoods squares, houses, agricultural areas, roads, observatories, etc.. Built on one of the flanks of the old mountain in the middle of semi-tropical vegetation. It was built on one of the flanks of the old mountain and discovered on July 24, 1911 by the North American explorer Hiram Bingham. We will have a guided tour for 2 hours, where we will visit the most representative places of the Inca citadel of Machupicchu. After the visit, optionally we can visit the mountain of Huaynapicchu; from where you have beautiful views of Machu Picchu. Later we return to Aguas Calientes and then we go to the train station to go to Poroy and then transfer to your hotel.
This day at the indicated time you will be transferred to the airport, where you will have the flight to Lima and where later you will have the international flight back.
