This day, we will pick you up at your hotel at the indicated time and continue our journey to the town of Mollepata where we will enjoy a typical breakfast of the area.
After breakfast, we will return to our vehicle to continue our journey to Soraypampa, where we will begin our hike to the Humantay Lagoon. On the way, we will enjoy the beautiful landscapes and gorges that surround us until we reach Soraypampa. Here our expert guide will give us enough time to prepare our equipment, such as walking sticks, water, personal backpacks, etc.
We will begin our hike to Humantay Lake at an altitude of 4,250 m.a.s.l., our ascent will take about an hour and a half until we reach Humantay Lake. When we arrive at this beautiful Humantay Lake, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds us and also the snow-capped mountains of Salkantay and Humantay.
Here, our guide will make a demonstration of the use of the coca leaf and a small offering to our Apus (Mountains) that made our arrival possible, in which we will participate. After all this great adventure, we will get off where the bus left us (Soraypampa). Continuing the trip we will head to Mollepata where we will enjoy our lunch and then return to Cusco.

The hike to the lagoon is 2 km uphill, it takes about 2 hrs on the way up and 1.5 hrs on the way back. it should be noted that the climb takes longer due to the steep slope of the mountain.
The lagoon is located at approximately 4200 meters above sea level, so its climate is constantly frigid.
The best season to visit the Humantay Lagoon is between the months of April to August, being the dry season in Cusco, therefore the absence of rainfall means that the roads are in better condition and the days are sunnier.
The horse service is an additional service that you can hire at the same place, once you arrive at the starting point of the hike. It should be noted that the horses will not take you to the lagoon itself but will leave you within a 15 minute walk, and also note that the horses only provide the service on the outward journey, the return journey being obligatory on foot due to the steepness of the mountain.
In case of small children it is highly recommended the use of horses, but due to the altitude of the mountain and frigid climate as well as the low oxygen level in the place, this is a recommended destination for people over 12 years old.
To book a tour to the Humantay Lagoon contact a travel agency preferably at least 2 weeks in advance, also consider that during the months of June and July the tourist flow in the city of Cusco increases considerably so if you plan to visit this attraction on these dates make your reservation at least 1 month in advance.
To visit this natural attraction is necessary only 1 day,
It is at this point where you can also purchase the service of horses if you wish.
Once you arrive at the lagoon you will have some free time to enjoy the scenery and take pictures.
Altitude sickness occurs in people who suffer a change in altitude above 2800 meters above sea level and refers to the presence of symptoms in the body due to a higher atmospheric pressure and a reduction in the level of oxygen in the environment, being more frequent in people who live in low altitude countries or at the same sea level.
The most frequent symptoms are dizziness and disorientation, nausea and vomiting, muscle pain and headache, tiredness, difficulty in breathing.
To reduce the symptoms it is very necessary to spend at least 2 days of acclimatization in the city of Cusco before trekking in the Humantay Lagoon.
To prevent the effects of altitude sickness, it is recommended that you spend a few days acclimatizing in the city, you can make more gentle tours to help your body get used to the altitude.
