The Llanganuco - Santa Cruz Trek is by far the most famous of all treks in the Cordillera Blanca. This trek will take you through two high mountain sites that offer fabulous views of twelve mountain peaks: Alpamayo, Huascaran, Chopicalqui and Taulliraju, among others. The trek reaches an altitude of 4,700 meters above sea level, from where it is possible to appreciate the beauty of the snow-capped peaks and the surrounding flora and fauna. This is one of the experiences in Peru that should not be missed, in the tour you will also observe the abundance of lakes, waterfalls, rivers and trails as well as camping areas.

The trip will start in Huaraz (3,052 meters above sea level) which will take you through Caraz and then to the small village of Cashapampa (2,900 meters). You will meet the muleteer and load your belongings on the donkeys. From here, you begin your hike through the Santa Cruz Valley, following the river. The hike ends in Llamacorral (3,750 m).
After breakfast, you will begin the hike through the valley. You can enjoy the spectacular views of the Santa Cruz mountain (6,259 m) before heading to Alpamayo base camp (5,947 m). Alpamayo is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the world. Your hike will also take you past three lakes: Ichiccocha, Jatuncocha and Arhuaycocha. From base camp, you can see even more peaks: Taulliraju, Paria, Artesonraju and Rinrijirca. Then we will arrive at our second camp taullipampa at 4350 masl.
It is difficult not to enjoy the splendor of the landscape. After an Andean breakfast, you will hike to Punta Union Pass (4,750 m) where you can stop to take as many pictures as you wish. Then, you will descend to the other side of the Cordillera Blanca, passing near two small lakes (Collcacocha and Tzakicocha). Likewise, observing the snow-capped mountains: Paria at 5600masl and Pyramid at 5885masl, we continue our hike until we reach our camp which is Cachi Pampa in Paria.
We will walk to Vaqueria where we will take the bus back to Huaraz on the way we appreciate mountains like Pisco at 5752masl, Chacraraju at 6112masl, Chopicalqui at 6354masl, Huascaran to the two peaks north and south at 6768masl and finally the snowy Huandoy at 6395masl. Then we continue by bus until we arrive to Huaraz.
