In the morning, we will visit the other part of the Sacred Valley. First, we will stop to admire the Urubamba mountain range and the snow-capped peaks of "La Verónica" (5682 m) and "Chikón" (5530 m).
We will then head to Moray in the district of Maras, province of Urubamba. This site features a unique archaeological group with large natural depressions or pits that were used to build agricultural terraces, serving as a prototype for a greenhouse or a highly advanced biological experimental station.
Next, we will continue to the Maras Salt Mines, consisting of about 4500 small pools averaging 5 m² each. During the dry season, these pools are filled or "irrigated" every 3 days with saltwater from a natural spring located at the top of the pools. As the water evaporates, the salt gradually solidifies, and later, the salt is crushed and granulated. Return to Cusco.
