Cusco – Pisac – Ollantaytambo – Chinchero

This day we begin our exploration of the Sacred Valley Tour, also known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas Tour, one of the most emblematic destinations in Cusco, Peru. Following the course of the Vilcanota River, we will be surrounded by breathtaking Andean landscapes and fertile lands that were essential to the agricultural development of the Inca Empire. Exploring Cusco and the Sacred Valley offers a deep understanding of the region’s historical and cultural importance.

Our first stop will be the Inca citadel of Pisac, one of the most important archaeological complexes included in any Peru Sacred Valley Tour. Here, we will discover an extraordinary system of agricultural terraces, ceremonial temples, water fountains, astronomical observatories, and the largest Inca cemetery in the region. Pisac played a strategic political, military, and agricultural role within the Sacred Valley of Cusco, while also offering unique panoramic views of the valley.

After the guided visit, we will descend to the town to explore the traditional Pisac market, a vibrant and colorful space where travelers can experience local customs, taste typical Andean products, and admire traditional handicrafts made using ancestral techniques from Sacred Valley Cusco.

We will then continue to Urubamba, considered the heart of the valley, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch prepared with local products—perfect for recharging before continuing our Sacred Valley of the Incas Tour.

In the afternoon, we will visit the impressive fortress of Ollantaytambo, a masterpiece of Inca engineering and one of the most representative sites of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Built on a strategic hillside, highlights include the Temple of the Sun with its massive monoliths, the Mañaracay or Royal Hall, the Intihuatana, and the Princess Baths.

Finally, we will head to Chinchero, an Andean village that preserves an authentic Inca urban layout, located in the upper part of the Sacred Valley Cusco. Here we will visit the remains of the palace of Inca Túpac Yupanqui and the colonial church built upon solid Inca stone foundations. Surrounded by the Vilcanota mountain range, Chinchero is known as the “Land of the Rainbow” due to the spectacular interplay of light and shadow projected over its terraces and archaeological structures.

This is a complete cultural experience combining ancient history, living traditions, breathtaking landscapes, and Andean heritage—carefully designed by Tierras de los Andes, specialists in Sacred Valley Cusco Peru  experiences, to offer you the very best of the Sacred Valley of Peru.
