Lima, the capital of Peru, will captivate you with its blend of colonial and modern architecture. Upon your arrival in Lima, a host will pick you up at the international airport and transfer you to your hotel.
Lima (150 m)
Enjoy breakfast. During this 6-hour culinary tour, you will explore the charming Barranco district, visit various restaurants and small businesses to sample traditional local specialties.
Along the way, you will make 8 carefully selected stops, where you will taste 15 flavors of fruits, beverages, and Peruvian dishes. You will also learn how to prepare ceviche, lomo saltado, and pisco sour. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Arequipa. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.
Lima (150 m) - Arequipa (2330 m)
After breakfast, our transportation will pick you up at your hotel and take you to one of the deepest canyons in the world. We will start our journey on the Yura road, skirting the snow-capped peaks of Chachani towards Pampa Cañahuas, home to local wildlife such as vicuñas and migratory flamingos.
We will stop at the Volcano Viewpoint, the highest point on the route (4950 m), where we can admire the Western Cordillera and imposing volcanoes like Ampato and Hualca Hualca.
Finally, we will arrive in Chivay, in the province of Caylloma, and check into our respective hotel. Optionally, you can relax in the "La Calera" hot springs (37°C, extra charge).
Volcano Viewpoint (4950 m) - Chivay (3600 m)
Today we will start off wonderfully as we head early in the morning to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, where we can usually see the world's largest birds, the condors, majestically flying to offer us a fantastic and unforgettable spectacle. We will also have a spectacular view of the Colca Canyon, which looks magnificent in the morning hours.
On the way back, we will pass through towns such as Yanque, Coporaque, and Achomas, which have preserved their traditions, including their traditional clothing and customs, allowing us to see that little has changed since the Inca era.
We will then stop in the town of Maca, where we will visit its beautiful church and cobblestone streets, among other attractions, before returning to Chivay for lunch. After lunch, we will continue our journey to Puno, where we will transfer you to your hotel.
Cruz del Cóndor (3800 m) - Chivay (3600 m) - Puno (3850 m)
Today we will explore Lake Titicaca and its islands. We will start with the Uros Floating Islands, known for their unique way of life, where the Aymara people use totora reeds to build their houses, rafts, and crafts. Their activities include fishing, crafting, and collecting eggs to sell in Puno.
Next, we will head to Amantaní Island, where we will walk for 30 minutes to rural homes and enjoy a typical lunch. We will have time to rest and explore the island, observing ceremonial centers and enjoying views of the Andes and Lake Titicaca. In the evening, we will share a dinner and participate in a folk dance with local families, wearing traditional costumes and listening to Andean music.
Puno (3850 m) - Uros Islands (3850 m) - Amantaní Island (4150 m)
After having breakfast with local families in Amantaní, we will head to Taquile Island, inhabited by ancestral weavers.
Upon arriving at the port, we will take a 45-minute walk to the main square, where the locals live traditionally, working together as a community.
Life on Taquile follows Inca principles of honesty and hard work, rooted for centuries. During our visit to the island, we will have the opportunity to explore this deep-rooted culture while enjoying a hearty lunch. We will then return by boat to Puno, concluding our day of learning and exploration on Lake Titicaca.
Amantaní Island (4150 m) - Taquile Island (4050 m) - Puno (3850 m)
Today we will head to the city of Cusco. On the way, we will stop in the town of Pucará, known for its "toritos de Pucará" crafts. We will continue our journey across the Collao Plateau and over the La Raya Pass, where we can admire the stunning landscapes and characteristic wildlife of the highlands.
Next, we will arrive at the Raqchi archaeological center, an ancient pre-Hispanic religious site. We will then stop in Andahuaylillas to visit the famous Church of Saint Peter the Apostle, known as the Sistine Chapel of America. Finally, we will arrive in Cusco and be transferred to your hotel.
Puno (3850 m) - La Raya Pass (4350 m) - Raqchi (3500 m) - Cusco (3330 m)
In the morning, we will have free time.
In the afternoon, we will explore the beauty of the imperial city, starting with the majestic Cusco Cathedral, renowned for the beauty of its interior decoration, followed by a visit to Qoricancha, or the Temple of the Sun, a crucial site for ceremonies dedicated to the Sun God and one of the venues for Inti Raymi, Cusco's largest festival.
We will then head outside the city to explore the archaeological sites of Tambomachay, Q'enqo, Puca Pucara, and Sacsayhuamán, the latter known for its impressive massive stone constructions. Finally, we will return to Cusco to conclude our day.
Cusco (3330 m) – Sacsayhuamán (3700 m) - Cusco
We will depart for the Sacred Valley and take the road to Chinchero, the "Rainbow City." We will start by visiting the ruins of the city, and then you will have the opportunity to delve deeper into local culture by discovering a traditional dish: pachamanca. This rich traditional dish involves cooking various foods in the earth using hot stones and includes ingredients such as native potatoes, corn, various meats, and local vegetables.
After lunch, we will continue ascending through the Sacred Valley to Moray, an authentic Inca agricultural laboratory.
Next, we will travel to Maras, where you will visit the famous salt mines, which date back to pre-Inca times and are still used by locals today.
After our visit, we will return to Ollantaytambo, a town that has changed very little since Inca times, where you will spend the night.
Cusco (3300 m) - Chinchero (3850 m) - Moray (3500 m) - Maras Salt Mines (3300 m) - Ollantaytambo (2800 m)
Early in the morning, we will head to the train station. From there, we will go to kilometer 104 to begin our hike along the Vilcanota River.
Along the way, we will admire the ruins of Chachabamba, an ancient stone altar revered for its connection to the Sun God and the mountains still venerated by the local population. We will then ascend for about 3 hours to a beautiful waterfall and then to the ruins of Wiñaywayna.
After lunch, we will continue climbing the stone steps to Inti Punku to enjoy the magnificent landscape before descending to the viewpoint to see the sunset and finally reach the entrance to Machu Picchu, where we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes.
Ollantaytambo (2800 m) - Wiñaywayna (2350 m) - Aguas Calientes (2000 m)
In the morning, you will visit the Cusco Chocolate Museum. During this workshop, you will learn all about the history of chocolate and the entire chocolate production process. You will have the opportunity to make your own chocolates to take home.
You will have your last afternoon to enjoy the city at your leisure.
