Puno, known as the "City of the Sacred Lake," is the tourism hub of the region due to its location on the famous Lake Titicaca, considered the Pacarina (mythical place of origin) according to legend, from where Manco Cápac and Mama Ocllo emerged.

Among its attractions are the Plaza de Armas and the Temple of San Juan, also known as the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Candelaria, recognized as a Cultural Heritage of the Nation. Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at 3,825 meters above sea level, features numerous islands on the Peruvian side, such as Amantaní, Taquile, Tikonata, Suasi, Soto, Anapia, and the floating Uros islands.
