Upon arriving at Trujillo Airport, our team will handle your reception and direct transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, you will explore the fascinating archaeological complex of El Brujo and the Lady of Cao, starting with a visit to Huaca Cao Viejo, famous for its impressive polychrome murals.
Subsequently, you will access the area where the tomb of the Lady of Cao was discovered, adorned with murals depicting the god Aia-Paec and the life or catfish. You will conclude with a visit to the Cao Museum, which offers a comprehensive view of El Brujo's cultural heritage.
Trujillo (30 min)
In the morning, we will explore the impressive archaeological complex of the Huaca del Sol and visit the Huacas de Moche Museum, where fascinating pieces of pottery and artifacts discovered during excavations are displayed. We will continue to the Huaca de la Luna, admiring the exquisite murals depicting the god Ai-Paec, also known as the “Decapitator.”
In the afternoon, we will transfer to the vast archaeological complex of Chan Chan, known worldwide as the largest adobe citadel of the pre-Columbian era, featuring its citadels, intermediate architecture, and popular sectors. The day will conclude at the Huanchaco fishing village, famous for its traditional “caballitos de totora,” still used by local fishermen.
Trujillo (30 min)
In the morning, you will explore the city, highlighting its colonial heritage with baroque buildings and republican art in neoclassical mansions. The urban tour begins at Plazuela El Recreo, progressing to Plaza Mayor, where you will visit the Casa de La Emancipación and Casa Urquiaga.
At Plaza Mayor, you will marvel at the traditional architecture, the monumental Ángel de La Libertad, and the Basilica Minor (Cathedral). A visit to the Archaeological, Anthropological, and History Museum of the National University of Trujillo will also be included. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the bus station for your journey to Chiclayo, and upon arrival, you will continue to your hotel.
Trujillo (30 min) - Chiclayo (60 min)
Explore the Tomb of Sipán, an impressive structure with two adobe pyramids and a funerary platform. Here, the chamber of the Lord of Sipán was discovered, accompanied by 8 skeletons of servants, concubines, and warriors. We will proceed to the Túcume Pyramids, notable for being the largest in South America. During our walk at this archaeological site, we will have the opportunity to observe these ancient structures.
We will end the day at the Lord of Sipán Museum, home to exceptional works of art in gold, silver, and copper found in Moche tombs. This museum displays the remains and treasure of the Lord of Sipán, whose tomb is considered one of the most significant globally, comparable to that of Tutankhamun in Egypt.
Chiclayo (60 min)
In the morning, we will explore the Bosque de Pomac Historic Sanctuary, an equatorial dry forest ecosystem that hosts rich biodiversity. Here is the Sicán Archaeological Complex (Lambayeque Culture), noted for its 20 adobe pyramids. We will ascend to the Las Salinas Viewpoint for a spectacular view of the forest and the La Leche River.
Subsequently, we will visit the National Sicán Museum, which offers a comprehensive exhibition on the life and customs of the Sicán culture, including the unique burial of the Lord of Sicán, who was buried face down in a fetal position with his head separated from his body. As night falls, I will head to the bus station to continue my journey to Chachapoyas.
