Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa -  Laguna Humantay

We will depart early from Cusco, heading to the town of Mollepata (2,900 m), where you will have the option to have breakfast and do some last-minute shopping. Then, we will continue for 1 hour until we reach Soraypampa, where we will start the hike to the Nevado de Humantay (5,917 m).

After the visit, we will return to our campsite for tea time, enjoy dinner, and finally rest.

Soraypampa - Abra de Salkantay - Chaullay

We will wake up very early and enjoy breakfast before starting the hike to the highest point of the entire route: Salkantay Pass (4,650 m), via a rocky and steep trail (7 km / 3 hours). This section will require physical endurance and good acclimatization from the trekkers. At this point, we will take a brief break while enjoying the incredible views of the Salkantay snow-capped peak.

Afterwards, we will descend to Wayraq Machay for lunch. Finally, we will continue the hike for 2.5 hours until we reach Chaullay, where we will spend the night at the campsite.

Chaullay - Playa Rosalinas - Lucmabamba

Around 7:00 a.m., we will begin our trek to the small settlement of La Playa (approximately 6 hours). Along the way, we will enjoy the lush scenery: rivers, waterfalls, wild orchids, and plantations of coffee, bananas, avocados, passion fruit, and granadilla.

We will also pass through the village of Collpapampa, known as “the top of the cloud forest.” After a few hours, we will reach Playa Sahuayaco, where we will have lunch included. We will then continue to our campsite in Lucmabamba, where we can visit the coffee plantations and observe the production process. Overnight at the campsite.

Day 4

Lucmabamba - Llactapata - Aguas Calientes

We will rise very early for an energizing breakfast. We will walk through the high jungle, seeing crops such as coffee, bananas, avocados, pineapples, and coca leaves. We will then ascend to Llactapata, an Inca archaeological site that offers views of Machu Picchu and the valley, a place used as a resting and ceremonial site by the Incas.

Afterwards, we will descend to the Aobamba Valley for about 2 hours until we reach Hidroelectrica, where we will have lunch. We will then walk for approximately 3 hours, covering around 10 km, to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, we will guide you to your hotel.

Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Poroy - Cusco

After breakfast, we will head to the bus station to board our trip to Machu Picchu. We will explore this spectacular Incan citadel, an architectural gem with neighborhoods, plazas, houses, and pathways, built on the mountain amidst semi-tropical vegetation.

A two-hour guided tour will reveal the highlights of the site. Optionally, we can visit the Huayna Picchu mountain for panoramic views. Afterwards, we will return to Aguas Calientes and head to the train station to return to Poroy, followed by a transfer to your hotel in Cusco.
