Agriculture is essential for these families, and planting is a vital tradition. We wake up very early in the morning and join them in the cultivation area, where the family performs an offering to Pachamama (Mother Earth) to ask for permission to plant. After the ritual, you will join the work and help with the planting.
You will learn about the right times to plant, weed, and the products to plant, such as potatoes, quinoa, beans, olluco, tarwi, wheat, and barley. Traditional tools like the lampa and chaquitaclla will also be used.
If you want to be part of this authentic experience, book with us and live the essence of Andean agriculture.
The preparation of Pachamanca is more than just a meal; it's a ceremony. From dawn, members gather, carefully selecting stones and firewood. The earth opens up like an oven, ready to receive the offerings: marinated meats, potatoes, and beans wrapped in banana leaves, among other products.
As the stones in the pit heat up, the aromas intertwine with stories and laughter. Warmed by the earth mother, the community shares this feast, nourishing not only the body but also strengthening the ancestral bond that connects them to their heritage and to Pachamama. After cooking, we enjoy this delicious dish alongside the ladies.
Staying with a local family at Qori Simpas is an unforgettable experience. You will integrate into their daily routine from early in the morning, starting your day by helping feed the animals, followed by the breakfast preparation before they head to their cultivation areas or pending activities.
