Where is Copacabana located?

Copacabana is located in the department of La Paz-Bolivia, at an altitude of over 3800 meters above sea level, is the main Bolivian city on the shores of Lake Titicaca.

How to get to Copacabana from Cusco

To get to Copacabana from Cusco you have to buy your ticket at the land terminal of Cusco, but before you have to quote because some can be very expensive, the route to buy has to be direct. I recommend you to travel at night, because the time to get there is about 10 hours.

How to get to Copacabana from Lima

The travel time from Lima to Copacabana is almost a day and the journey is direct, so you will NOT have to make stops. It is by land, as there are no flights to Bolivia.

You can also take a bus from Lima to La Paz and from there go to Copacabana, buses leave daily from the Terminal Plaza Norte and at the timetable of your choice.

To get to Copacabana from Arequipa you have two facilities, it depends on which one you want to go. You must take a direct bus from Arequipa to Copacabana in the travel company like Bolivia Hop, during the trip you will make some stops.

The other option is to make the trip, but with two stops at strategic points, the first is to leave from Arequipa to Puno and from Puno to La Paz and then head to Copacabana, definitely a tiring circuit, if you have enough time you can make this trip, if not opt for the other modality.

To get to Copacabana from La Paz you have four ways, this because most of the locals from La Paz visit Copacabana on weekends, therefore, there are more facilities to get there. Here I show you some of the ways:

  • A taxi train from La Paz to Copacabana takes about four and a half hours to get there.
  • Bus, it takes about four hours to get there.
  • Taxi and car, the two modalities take you about 2 hours and a half to 3 hours approximately to arrive.
